After falling short of a top-tier premiership, both the second and third grade squads took out their respective competitions after dominant campaigns.

The quality of rugby is at its highest in first-grade, but that doesn't mean it's any less difficult to win a championship in the lower grades. In fact, Hattersley commended the squads for flourishing through so much player turnover.

"I'd be surprised if we used less than 30-35 players in our team this year," he said.

"Any other coach will tell you... a second-grade competition is hard to win.

"Your team changes every week. You might have more unavailable due to work or you might have someone who will take the weekend off."

Pete Bromley's side is known for being longer in the tooth, meaning these up and coming grade stars should feature prominently in seasons to come.

"The depth is good and we've been able to keep building on that," he said.

"We had genuine first graders playing second-grade, and genuine second graders playing third-grade."
