Several councillors told the latest meeting it would cause confusion.
Council was told Australia Post was allowing the inclusion of Indigenous and traditional place names in addresses.
I don't not want to still be here when Orange is under pressure to be re-named
- Cr Russell Turner
A staff report said the Orange Regional Museum was seeking to include Wiradjuri Country in its address and the report recommended it be included across the entire council organisation.
Cr Russell Turner said he received a letter to his home with Wiradjuri in the address.
He said he threw it in the bin. "That is not my correct address," he said.
Cr Turner said he was concerned this voluntary campaign would become compulsory and lead to a further campaign to re-name towns and cities across Australia.
"This is just the beginning of a campaign slowly and surely indoctrinating us," he said.
"I don't not want to still be here when Orange is under pressure to be re-named. I love living in Orange and I want to love living that way."
However, Cr Stephen Nugent said it was voluntary and did not involve re-naming Orange.
He said it was a 'great initiative' to recognise the Wiradjuri people.
"I think we are getting a bit carried away," he said.
Cr Kevin Duffy said it should not be extended beyond the museum at this stage.
"Why are we changing things, we need to have a good hard look at it," he said.
Mayor Cr Reg Kidd said Wiradjuri Country was already recognised at entrance signs to the city and he did not agree with including it in the council address.
"I think sometimes this can be overplayed a little bit, we know we are in Wiradjuri Country but the address here is Orange 2800" he said.
"I have no problems with the museum, I can understand that.
"But where does this start and where does it actually finish?"
Cr Scott Munro said Wiradjuri Country extended far beyond Orange.
"I think what you're going to do is confuse a lot of people when they are writing mail and I think you are going to undermine eventually names and places," he said.
Cr Glenn Taylor said it was likely to be a matter for the next council, to be elected following the polls on December 4.
Council agreed to the address change only for the museum by 6-4.
