Via its Taronga TV, the team of zookeepers have been hosting virtual zoology and conservation classes since July 16, when 125,000 students, teachers and parents first tuned in.
"It's a challenging time for everyone - so if we can keep kids entertained while learning more about our incredible wildlife and give parents a break from the demands of home-schooling at the same time, we're happy to make a difference," said Cameron Kerr, Taronga Conservation Society Australia CE.
The zookeepers hosted additional sessions over the past week to celebrate National Science Week.
Energy and Environment Minister Matt Kean said the current COVID outbreak and lockdowns are tough on everyone, not least of which, parents at home trying to juggle work with home schooling.
"Science is vitally important in conservation, and by encouraging kids to engage with keepers and some of the best educators around, it may help to encourage our next generation of scientists and researchers."
