Adam Troy Hartigan, 40, of Glenroi, was convicted for driving on meth after being stopped for the purpose of random roadside testing on April 17 on Endsleigh Street.
According to police, Hartigan was "polite and co-operative with police at all times".
Hartigan reportedly told officers that he had smoked meth at a friend's place the day before but was not a regular user.
In sentencing, magistrate David Day said Hartigan needed to make a choice between meth or having a driver's licence.
He was disqualified from driving for six months and fined $220.
