Scott Michael McDonald, of Pindari Place, was at a house in Adina Crescent when police arrived with a search warrant at 12.10pm on May 3.
McDonald was one of several people who were escorted to the front yard where he was told he would be searched.
When he was asked if he had anything to declare he removed knuckle dusters from his right pocket and he had two blister packets containing 16 Diazepam tablets, also known as Valium, which were not prescribed to him in his shoulder bag.
His bag also contained an ice pipe, a set of scales and numerous unused resealable bags. McDonald was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station while the warrant continued in his absence.
A bedroom he had been staying in was also searched with more items found and McDonald pleaded guilty to supplying 45.7 grams of meth, supplying 1.5 grams of MDMA, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of the 16 Diazepam tablets.
Solicitor Bridget Byrnes said McDonald was already in jail due to his parole for another matter being revoked.
However, she said he was recently offered a bed in a full-time drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre for 12 months.
Ms Byrnes said McDonald witnessed drug use when he was growing up and when he was 10 his mother was sent to jail for supplying heroin.
However, she said he went on to finish year 12 in high school and he was employed for nine years at a car wash after school but lost his job due to his drug addiction.
She said he started using drugs when he was 20 and methylamphetamine when he was 24.
Magistrate David Day said McDonald had been given plenty of opportunities and he has previously been jailed for assault and other drug matters.
"His liking for drugs is quite destructive for him and others around him," Mr Day said.
Mr Day sentenced McDonald to nine-months full-time jail with a non-parole period for four months for drug supply and possession of the knuckle dusters.
However, he backdated the jail sentence to May 3, the date he went into custody, giving him a release date of September 2, 2021, so he can attend full-time drug rehabilitation.
Mr Day also made completion of full-time drug and alcohol rehabilitation a condition of a two-year community correction order he gave McDonald for possession of the Valium tablets.
"He's got plenty of time to do it in, he can fail it a couple of times because he's got two years after his release," Mr Day said.
