Sure, they're battling through an injury-riddled Blowes Clothing Cup campaign, but Viv Paasi's men share the same goal ahead of the last two games... win.
That's the objective ahead of an all-Orange derby as Emus will visit Pride Park ahead of a round 14 showdown.
It's a fixture that City has struggled with so far, but Josh Tremain took a stack of positives out of the last meeting as his men fell 24-15 after enjoying a lead with less than 20 minutes to go.
The make-up of their side is a little different this time around - as the injury bug as brutally swept through the roster - but there were encouraging signs they're keen to build on.
"We took the intensity to them," Tremain said.
"In the past they would score easier, but we took it to them in those crucial moments. They won after their hooker had to kick the ball off his left foot. We were mounting a lot of pressure in defence in that game.
"We were proud of our defence in that game an we're hoping to aim up in certain areas that have let us down."
Lions' last win came in the opening round against Kangaroos, which makes it hard for key personnel to hold their heads high.
To Paasi's credit, he's kept a business as usual mentality throughout the trying times, something Blocker's been impressed with.
"He's kept focused which has been very hard to do," he said.
"Sure, his morale has dropped at certain stages but so has everyone's. I'll take my hat off to him for staying and digging in."
City can make all the strategical planning it likes, but it will be for nought if they don't maintain a high level from bell to bell.
"We need to play for 80 minutes this weekend, not 50," he said.
"We're under no illusions as to what we're up against. They [Emus] will be ready to go and we're obviously heavy underdogs."
The game is crucial for Pete Bromley's men as they have the chance to all-but lock up the minor premiership with a victory.
If they are to do that, it would come just a week after greens' second-grade side achieved the same feat.
Emus will be sweating on a match between Dubbo and Cowra as the Kangaroos will have the platform to end the Eagles' minor premiership hopes. Emus will play Cowra in the last round.
The women's contest will kick-off at 12pm as Emus shoot for their fifth win this campaign. They still trail Bathurst and Dubbo as both sides are looming large.
The men's showdown kicks off at 3.15pm from Pride Park.
