After 12 rounds of action, Daniel Mortimer's stoked at what his homegrown CYMS have achieved.
The green and golds sit alone in first position on the Group 10 table, overcoming what the skipper described as a "stop start" season.
And while Cowra's withdrawal allowed Jack Buchanan and Jack Nobes to fall onto the squad's lap, the remainder of the roster are club juniors.
The likes of Lachie Munro, Joe Duffy and Robbie Mortimer have been stellar so far, and all three of them have been with the squad for several winters.
"I'm proud because we haven't really recruited that hard," Mortimer said.
"14 of our starting 17 are CYMS juniors. It's a proud moment for myself and the club."
The front runners are still riding the wave of back-to-back Wade Park wins as they most recently took out Hawks for the third time this season.
But, there's set to be adversity thrown their way in the last month as a scheduled match against Lithgow could hurt their chances to claim the minor premiership.
This is because Workies are currently on a COVID-enforced break, meaning teams who are slated to play them will only receive one point from that round, instead of two.
This means that Panthers, who are just two points adrift of CYMS (with a far superior for and against), will have more opportunities to claim full points.
It would be a hit to lose the minor premiership, but Mortimer won't worry about what he can't control.
Instead, he's focusing on keeping his side fit and firing in the coming weeks, something he's managed tremendously so far... with the exception of a Robbie Mortimer ankle injury.
"He's self-diagnosed himself with a broken foot," Daniel Mortimer said.
"He borrowed a walking boot off Hayden Spencer and he's been hobbling around the streets in it."
As for the week-to-week training routine, Mortimer wants to make sure his men don't lose the feel for the game. "You want to replicate the game as much as you can with opposed sessions and footy-specific skills."
