Orange City Council received seven submissions and 192 responses on its Your Say site after putting a masterplan on the lake on public exhibition.
Other suggestions included better weed control, providing boat and kayak hire, a boat shed and adventure equipment.
However, many said they did not want to see major changes to the lake.
Council staff will now identify key projects and apply for government grant funding to make the changes.
Council's Tuesday meeting was also told music and other events could be provided at the venue.
OTHER DECISIONS
Meanwhile council has refuses a development application for a childcare centre in Kearneys Drive on grounds including it was unsuitable for the site and would generate noise and traffic issues.
Council agreed to provide Emus rugby club with a 21-year lease on Endeavour Oval including adding adjacent land for the construction of facilities for women.
It will also put on public exhibition a request by the Orange Indoor Tennis Club for a low-interest loan for about $55,000 to upgrade lighting to LED at the centre.
Council will also provide $10,000 toward the staging of the Squeeze Music Festival featuring pop rock band Lime Cordiale and several support acts at Heifer Station Wines next year.
The Future Tunes winter indoor program will also be kickstarted. Businesses and local performers are invited to register to be part of the project which will be co-ordinated by council staff ahead of the return of the outdoor music and film shows in spring.
Council also agreed to provide $25,000 to 12 groups in the first round of this year's small donations program. Recipients include Lifeline Central West ($11,464) and the Zonta Club of Orange, Orange Regional Malayalee Association, the Shepherd Centre and City of Orange Brass Band ($2500 each).
Council also approved the closure of part of Byng Street on Friday October 1 for the return of the Orange Wine Week night markets.
And it will also seek tenders for a provider of tourism services in Orange, Cabonne and Blayney council from 2022-2024 with Orange360's contract to expire in December.
