Shifted to the James Sheahan Catholic High School fields, the boggy conditions weren't really conducive to attacking footy by Ryan, in combination with CYMS half Tori Moore, managed to defy the slop and lift the hosts to a crucial 22-12 victory over the Bears.
Ryan scored all of CYMS' first half points, kicking two goals on top of her opening term brace to help rocket her side out to a 12-0 lead before the visitors eventually hit back.
Sophie Stammers scored first for the Bears before Gab Nixon touched down on virtually the same patch of grass moments later.
Both conversion attempts were waved away, though, ensuring CYMS led 12-8 at the break.
As they did in the opening 25 minutes, CYMS started the second half hot, Ryan pouncing on a Moore grubber to complete her hat-trick of tries early in the new term.
Tori Moore, I can't do it without her.

She missed the conversion - from nearly in front, her only blemish in an otherwise five-star outing - but it didn't matter, with Hope Gibson scoring soon after give Ryan a chance to rectify the error.
It was an invitation she happily accepted, and her third goal of the game essentially wrapped up the game for the top-three bound CYMS.
Nixon bagged a double for the undermanned Bears late in the piece, but it was only ever a consolation try in the wash-up of a 22-12 final scoreline.
Ryan finished up the match with an individual haul of 16 points and said the two competition points is crucial for CYMS' 2021 ambition.
"We want to finish on top," Ryan smiled, CYMS one of the sides gunning to match it with Group 10's undeniable league tag powerhouse, St Pat's.
" ... but top three is where we want to be, and then hopefully we take out the trophy."
Ryan said her side's defence has been the key to CYMS' top three bid - the green and golds are all but locked in to finish in that top end of the ladder, along side St Pat's and Hawks.
She added improving that aspect of CYMS game will ensure they then stick it to those other top sides.
"St Pat's is definitely the one to beat, and defence is key to that," she added.
"It was muddy out there, the conditions weren't great and it was a new field ... it can get in your head but overall I thought we handled it very well."
She said her flourishing combination with Moore was the key to her scintillating display on Sunday.
"Tori Moore, I can't do it without her," Ryan said.
"She's an amazing half, all the credit has to go to here ... I just run it.
Ryan praised the work of fullback Em Williams as well as winger Kate Payne following the 10-point win at home while, for Blayney, the likes of Tash Hobby and Liv Bird were at their scheming best in a beaten side.
Bears gun Sophie Stammers said the rest of the 2021 season will likely be a war of attrition for the Blayney girls.
"It doesn't help having no subs. We've got five or six girls out injured for the year, we played well considering. CYMS is a good side," she added.
The Bears remain in fourth following the loss, but will now be seven competition points adrift of the top three.
Stammers says tag effecicincy will ensure the Bears remain in the top five and fighting come the Group 10 finals.
"We need to build on our defence. We're missing one-on-one tags when it really counts," she said.
