Between 6am and 6pm on Thursday, Triple M will remove all regular programming, news, traffic updates and advertisements from its 105.1 frequency and feature some of the biggest names in rock, sport and comedy candidly speaking about mental health challenges.
The on-air talent will also focus on what resources they've made use of to help and Triple M will encourage listeners to start conversations if they are struggling, or if they know of think they know someone who is - ultimately, to potentially save lives.
Head of Triple M network, Mike Fitzpatrick, said the importance of the initiative has become all the more obvious in the last 12 months as communities continue to deal with the impact of COVID-19, those stresses exacerbated by floods, fires and mouse plagues.
"No Talk Day ... has grown into the most significant day of the year for us. It has become a day that has unified our on and off airs teams alongside our listeners to have really important, lifesaving conversations," he said.
"Having a platform ... to encourage Aussie men and women to take care of their mental health and to support courageous conversations if they are struggling, or to give those who know someone who is, the tools to navigate their way through is a privilege we take seriously."
