The Cancer Council's community lead for Western NSW, Ricky Puata said: "Given the high risk to public health currently posed by COVID-19, as well as the new restrictions imposed this afternoon by the NSW Government, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone our Stars of Orange event, which was due to take place this evening.
"I know this news will be very disappointing for everyone involved, but we must adhere to government guidelines and the health and wellbeing of our stars, volunteers, staff and supporters - your safety must come first. We're confident that this decision is in the best interests of everyone involved, as well as the wider NSW community."
New rules for regional NSW were announced Saturday afternoon.

- Masks will be compulsory in all indoor non-residential settings, including workplaces, and at organised outdoor events;
- Drinking while standing at indoor venues will not be allowed;
- Singing by audiences and choirs at indoor venues or by congregants at indoor places of worship will not be allowed;
- Dancing will not be allowed at indoor hospitality venues or nightclubs however, dancing is allowed at weddings for the wedding party only (no more than 20 people);

Mr Puata said he was grateful for people's support.

If you or someone you know has cancer and are concerned, please call our 13 11 20 Information and Support line to speak to one of our trained health professionals.
"While it saddens us to have to postpone this event, we look forward to celebrating in the near future Stars of Orange with you. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me on 0421 874 581 or ricky.puata@nswcc.org.au."
