"If you don't have a sense of humour, you probably don't have any sense at all." That old saying is probably more relevant today, because of the anxiety and uncertainties relating to COVID-19 and climate change. Early in my teaching career, I was lucky enough to board with large families, who managed to have a lot of fun, and certainly kept their sense of humour, despite having very little money. One of a number of ways that allows me to keep my sense of humour on "down" days, is to have a swim, reflect on how fortunate I am, and then read the latest Garfield cartoon in the Central Western Daily. In my opinion, a good sense of humour is very precious at all times, and most of us try to keep it in good, working condition. Perhaps the shortest and most direct statement about humour is: "A total absence of humour makes life impossible." (Colette: 1873 - 1954.) Amen to that

It is a myth that Orange needs more sports fields.
Scattered throughout the suburbs of Orange are fields that for many years were used, particularly for junior sports and carnivals, for cricket, soccer, football, touch, and hockey. Some with toilets, now closed or demolished! Some are occasionally used but most are now lying idle. With an injection of funds, they could easily and at much less cost, fill the perceived need for more sports fields that are planned at the proposed Sporting Precinct, no matter where it is located.
The Forgotten Sports Fields.

Ps. Love the idea for an Arboretum on the NDR site which will of course require significant Infrastructure.. electricity, water supply, sewerage, access roads, parking and toilets.
So with all this in place, and a large area of land, why not build the Sports Stadium on the same site alongside the Arboretum, but adjoining the NDR, and share the Infrastructure, and no need to remove any trees! A win win situation for locals, visitors and tourism generally.
