The Orange Nurse of the Year Awards Ceremony saw four individuals and a team receive recognition for their work.
The Enrolled Nurse of the Year was won by Orange hospital stalwart Kim Byrnes who had worked at in the medical ward since 1991.
In giving out the award, the nurse was recognised for being an "outstanding EN with a caring and kind heart for all patients," Director of Nursing and Midwifery Jo Dean said.
"She works diligently to ensure her patients and their families are well cared for [and is] reliable, compassionate and a great asset to the team."
Registered Nurse of the Year was won by Arjo Kurian - one of the few male nurses in the team.
While he was absent for the ceremony, his award was collected by colleague Anetta Westgeest who described Mr Kurian as "the kindest, calmest person".
"He remains calm and dedicated to all tasks and is able to prioritise to ensure patient safety comes first," the director said.
The hospital's Operating Team were the winners of Nursing Team of the Year.
Ms Dean said the past 12 months had seen an "extraordinary program of sudden closures, waitlist reduction lists.... and emergency operating overall".
The whole operating team had taken it all "with grace and good humour".
The Director of Nursing and Midwifery Award went to Carole Doyle who "volunteered when the call for help came from NSW Government in July 2020 to help support Victoria's COVID-19 response".
"Carol [Doyle] demonstrated a true commitment to the nursing profession by helping our Victorian nurses during a very difficult time and should be rewarded for her courage and support," Ms Dean said.
"Mary [Gamboa] has been recognised by her team and the leaders in this facility to have a kind and caring nature, to be hardworking with nothing being too much trouble," Ms Dean said.
"She is an excellent charge of shift and patient advocate... Orange Health Service and the surgical ward are very lucky to have Mary [Gamboa]."
