It's been over six weeks since seven-year-old Bella vanished from her Barton Park property, 30km outside Orange, but her owner is refusing to stop searching.
It was March 29 and the great dane cross had been left in her yard as normal while Ms Laing was at work at the neighbouring property.
The dog wasn't in the habit of wandering off but Ms Laing suspects she may have gone looking for her when she heard the sound of the buggy she was driving as she attended to her farm duties nearby.
Since then, despite printing out and distributing hundreds of flyers throughout the region, posting continuously on Facebook, searching nearly every day through the forest near her home and offering a $500 reward, there has been no sign of Bella.
Her heart-broken owner said she can't give up hope though. The dog had barely left her side since Ms Laing adopted her when she was 18 months old.
"[I] spent pretty much most of my free time with her," she said of her missing friend.
It breaks your heart, it does. She's [my] best friend. You spend that much time with them. It's just like losing anyone close, really. It's definitely been hard.
- Annie Laing
"I'm kind of just always praying that she'll pop her head out from behind a tree," Ms Laing said, her voice breaking as she described the difficulty of trying to adapt to life without the dog that had been her constant companion.
"It's hard. It breaks your heart, it does. She's [my] best friend. You spend that much time with them. It's just like losing anyone close, really. It's definitely been hard."
Ms Laing held some concern that pig hunters may have picked her up on the roadside - even though she admitted Bella would be absolutely "hopeless" as a pig dog due to her having such a "friendly soul".
"If she ever saw a pig she'd probably go up and try to lick it," Ms Laing laughed.
Bella is described as looking quite similar to a great dane except she is slightly smaller in size. She is also brown brindle in colour and has a white chest with three white paws. Her tail is white-tipped.
She was last seen wearing a leather collar with her nametag on it that was engraved with Ms Laing's details. The dog is microchipped and desexed.
Anyone who thinks they may have seen Bella since she went missing from the Cadia region on Four Mile Creek Road is asked to contact Annie Laing on 0458 864 926.
