The family of a young boy who was hit by a car while riding his scooter is counting their lucky stars after he escaped with only minor lacerations.

The boy had been riding his scooter on Kite Street in Orange at around 5pm on Friday when the incident occurred.
The boy was transported to Orange Hospital with minor injuries, including a laceration to his leg.
Central West Police District officers attended the scene but weren't able to confirm if any charges had been laid.
