Donna Lee Ross, 51, of Diamond Drive, was caught driving while her licence was disqualified and without having an interlock device fitted to her car on March 16, 2020, and she was caught driving again a month later.
At 1.40pm on March 16 last year, Ross was driving along the Olympic Highway at Wombat when her car triggered the number plate recognition system in a nearby police car. She had been ordered to get an interlock driver's licence on November 18, 2019, and she was disqualified from driving until November 18, 2024.
Magistrate David Day convicted her, disqualified her driver's licence for six months and placed her on a six-month community correction order requiring rehabilitation and treatment for driving while disqualified.
He also convicted her and placed her on a 12-month Community Release Order for being an interlock licence holder without having an approved interlock device fitted to her car.
However, he gave her a community-based custodial sentence by way of a seven-month Intensive Correction Order for driving while disqualified on April 13 and 15, 2020.
He also disqualified her driver's licence for 12 months.
Ross had been stopped by police in Jilba Street about 3.25pm for random testing in Jilba Street on April 13 and tested positive to methamphetamine, which also earned her a 12-month CRO and six-month driving disqualification.
She was caught driving again on Leeds Parade at 11.15am on April 15 and police followed her to her address where she parked in her driveway.
Solicitor Neil Jones said on each occasion Ross was transporting a seriously ill family member to medical appointments but she's since been able to get help with transport from another family member.
