After a one-year hiatus in 2020, the Great Volcanic Mountain Challenge and Family Trail Run is set to return on Sunday March 28.

The challenge event starts near the Pinnacle Picnic Reserve and finishes at the top of Mt Canobolas, making for an overall climb of 520m with a total distance of 11km.
The Family Trail Run starts at finishes at the Pinnacle Picnic Reserve.
The popularity of this event has grown over the years, with annual numbers soaring above the 500 mark.
High-level runners can finish the challenge in under an hour, although the majority of entrants clock a time between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.
Both the challenge and the family runs are open to runners and walkers of all ages, although a basic level of fitness is required.
Online entries are accepted up until 11.59pm on Friday night.
Entries for senior individuals (over 18 year of age) is $55 per person, while juniors (under 18 years of age) will pay $40 a per person.
The main race starts between 9 and 9.15am, with the family run starting between 9.45-9.55am.
The event will be held with COVIDsafe protocols in place.
