The jury has to determine if Darryle Tailford, 28, had intent to cause grievous bodily harm or serious injury to Ricky Eggins when he fatally stabbed him with a carving fork about 3am on March 2, 2019.
Tailford pleaded guilty to manslaughter but not guilty to murder.
The trial started on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at Orange Courthouse, two years after the incident because the Crown prosecutor refused to accept the manslaughter plea.
The jury started its deliberations on Thursday but about 2pm it requested more information from Supreme Court judge Justice Stephen Rothman about what constituted "serious injury."
Justice Rothman allowed the jury members to break for the weekend at 1pm on Friday and resume on Monday.
However, he warned them to avoid discussing the trial with anyone outside the jury room and to avoid other outside sources.
