Orange schools receiving share of $66 million announced by education minister Sarah Mitchell

Ms Mitchell was set to make the announcement alongside Nationals MLC Sam Farraway at Orange Public School, one of the city's schools that will benefit from the funding.

The new investment marks the beginning of the second tranche of the NSW Goverment's Regional Renewal Program, worth $120 million in total.

The projects involved are identified and then co-funded by schools, with almost $2 million already being plunged into the Orange electorate through the first phase of the program.

"The Regional Renewal Program will accelerate the delivery of school improvement projects. I'm delighted to see more than 370 projects in this next phase of the program," Ms Mitchell said.

"The Regional Renewal Program is providing more jobs for locals in our regions by using local tradies for work where possible. Improving schools is a key part of the NSW Government's commitment to building a safer and stronger regional NSW."

"We have already seen schools across the region benefit from the $1.7 million injected into the electorate as part of the first round of the regional renewal program," Mr Farraway added.

"Schools like Orange High School, Canobolas Rural Technology High School, Molong Central School and Bowen Public School are just some of the schools set to benefit.

"This funding is particularly important and shows our commitment to a safer and stronger regional NSW by enhancing the education opportunities available in our communities and ensuring that no matter what their post code, our students are given every chance to achieve their goals."

Ms Mitchell said the NSW Government continues to prioritise regional schools and communities as the state recovers from the pandemic.

More than $7 billion is set to be invested over the next four years, with the government continuing its program to deliver more than 200 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW.

This is the largest investment in public education infrastructure in the state's history.
