One person was transported to hospital in a stable condition after three vehicles collided in a serious accident between Orange and Bathurst on Wednesday afternoon.

Two small SUVS and a utility vehicle were involved in the crash on the Mitchell Highway near Vittoria, 21 kilometres west of Bathurst, which emergency services responded to after initial reports just before 4pm.

The other occupants of the cars were also assessed at the scene but were not transported to hospital by paramedics.
Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Bathurst also attended along with Rural Fire Service officers, who worked quickly to remove debris from the highway, blocking traffic for a short period.
NSW Police assisted with traffic control, before all three vehicles were towed and the highway reopened.
