That was the story of Charlie Bubb who feasted on the competition during an eight-man K1 elimination bracket at Melbourne's Altona North.
Despite ranking third among active muay thai fighters, the 23-year had a few nerves heading into Saturday's kickboxing event.
"At the first fight I was a bit nervous," he said.
"I hadn't fought in so long and I just wanted to get it over and done with. Then after the first one was done, I was unstoppable after that."
Not only was pride on the line for Bubb, but a cheque worth $20,000 awaited the winner of the event.
Fair to say he was pretty pleased when it was his hand that was raised after the final.
"It hasn't really sunk in yet," he said of the victory.
"The money hasn't hit my account yet, so when it does it will really sink in.
"Throughout the night I felt like I was getting better. I felt I was better in my second fight than I was in my first. I'd already beaten the guy who I was fighting in the final, so I had all the confidence in the world that I could do it again."
It was the most emotionally draining night I've ever had.
- Charlie Bubb
In the first round, Bubb defeated Daniel Barber via unanimous decision, before he beat Sarmad Jahanara via TKO in the semi-final.
Although the final against Jayden Eynaud came down to the judge's call, there was never any doubt as Bubb was crowned the winner once again by unanimous decision.
"It was the most emotionally draining night I've ever had," he added.
"You have about 45 minutes in-between each fight. Once you're done with the first fight, you have the excitement of winning and then you have to calm yourself back down to be ready to go again.
"It was a hard thing to do, it was emotionally draining, but I came away with the biscuits so I'm over the moon."
With international fighters near impossible to book, next up for Bubb is an April 10 boxing match on the Gold Coast.
