Whilst we are struggling to get an extension of that City's bullet train service out to Orange, we already have the infrastructure which could alleviate some of the so-called traffic congestion that's supposedly going to happen once the new Bloomfield Sports Precinct (BSP) takes shape off Forest Road:
A) From the Bathurst light-rail idea, we already have our own ... the rail-line that comes out from the CBD, past the proposed BSP could double as a to-from rail link? To boot there's already some sheds near to the current Orange Railway Station the would/could house the two-three carriages. Just a small 'siding or on/off station' opposite the proposed BSP and some (anti-obesity) walking benefit, too?
B) If one cares to check out the road-carriage south from traffic lights at corner of Forest Road and the Southern Distributor (which I have), there is space available to widen the roadway.
C) On the small number of occasions when there are major sporting activities in play, and thinking 'outside the box', could emergency vehicles be allowed access to the stadium via the Jack Brabham grounds, as an option? Plenty of venues have 'leave free for access by emergency vehicles' signs up.
And of course, the old 'chestnut', if one sees/hears an emergency vehicle approaching, as we are required, pull over and let them through?
A lot don't pullover of course, but if one studies the carriageway in/around the proposed BSP there is room for 'pullovers' to occur.
