Glen Hopton Dodds, 49, of Torpy Street, was already in custody when he appeared before magistrate Alison Viney in Orange Local Court.

She convicted Dodds and gave him a 13-month non-parole period back-dated from the date of the offence until July 25, 2021.

He had initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea after the police facts were amended.

According to the agreed information, the victim had been drinking at his home on June 26, 2020, and Dodds attended the victim's address about 9pm.

According to the victim Dodds had also been drinking and was well-affected by alcohol.

Shortly before midnight, Dodds got angry with the victim and punched him numerous times to the face causing the injuries.

The assault took place in the victim's loungeroom and bedroom.

At one stage Dodds was momentarily distracted and the victim managed to flee and required medial treatment for his injuries.
