With the World's Greatest Shave less than a month away, Kylie Shelker decided she too would take the plunge and raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation.
The charity helped Ms Shelker's sister - who is currently in remission - during her battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
"She had chemo and radiation and then she went into remission," Ms Shelker said.
"She ended up with it again and the Leukaemia Foundation helped us with accommodation and any questions we had."
As many siblings do, the pair have a very close connection.
"We've always been very close," Ms Shelker added.
"We would message each other 'good night, I love you' every night, so we're pretty close and she means the world to me.
"I said to her that I'm taking part in this but I don't think it won't really hit her until the day when the hair's gone and she'll be a bit like 'oh my god, you actually did it'."
So far she has raised nearly $600. She will require a few more donations if she is to get the chop.
"I've had a bit of a chat to people and said if I raise $3,000 I'll shave it," she added.
"If you're gonna do it, you're gonna do it. It's only hair and it grows back.
"In the first two days it was up to $450 and then it died down a little and now it's shot up again. That's just with me talking to my friends and family and sharing on Facebook."
The official dates for World's Greatest Shave are March 10-14 March - but you can shave any day of the year.
In total, nearly $5 million has been raised across all donation pages this year so far to further lifesaving research.
