THE HOLIDAY INN OUTBREAK

- Eight cases linked to the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Airport

- A worker and released guest tested positive on Thursday

- The outbreak involves three workers, two former guests and a family of three who contracted the virus overseas.

- An authorised officer, aged in her 50s, tested positive on Sunday after working a shift

- She has eight social and primary close contacts. Six have tested negative so far

- A food and beverage attendant among the woman's 136 workplace close contacts tested positive on Tuesday

- She has 13 social and household primary close contacts. Seven have tested negative so far

- A female guest on the floor where the attendant worked tested positive on Tuesday

- She left quarantine on Sunday and got tested on Monday after learning of the outbreak

- The woman did not leave home other than to get tested and only has one social and household primary close contact

- Victoria's Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton suspects the virus spread via a nebuliser, used by one of the family members in hotel quarantine

- The Holiday Inn closed until further notice for "terminal cleaning"

- About 135 staff at the hotel stood down, told to isolate at home and get tested

- Forty-eight guests considered close contacts transferred to another hotel to quarantine for an "extended number of days"

- Outbreak follows a hotel quarantine worker at Melbourne's Grand Hyatt hotel testing positive and a case of guest-to-guest transmission at the Park Royal last week
