The screening was planned for Saturday evening in the Botanic Gardens.
The Orange Open Air (OOA) committee made the announcement Wednesday in response to thunderstorms which had been forecast for February 6.
"We were really hoping that the weather gods would smile on us and we would be able to enjoy a great evening in the Botanic Gardens with you screening this Aussie classic, but no!" OOA said in a statement.
"The weather forecast is looking terrible and to save you all from soggy bottoms we have decided to cancel."
The committee added that all those who had already purchased tickets would be refunded. OOA is still hoping to show Priscilla Queen of the Desert later in the month, with the exact date and venue to be announced.
