The two sides will clash in a loser-goes-home tilt at Wade Park on Friday night and spinner Edward Dodds knows if the red and blacks bat first, they won't be able to settle for anything less than 140, given the firepower of their opposition.

The Qureshi brothers, as well as skipper Ryan Peacock, have been white hot for the away side since the end of 2020 and Dodds doesn't want them chasing a sub-par total.

"They're a great batting side so we'd even want to be pushing up to 150 runs," Dodds said.

"The pitch at Wade Park is a little quicker now than it was at the start of the season so whether we bat or field first, we need to be aggressive."

December 11 was the last time Centrals played a Bonnor Cup clash as they upended City Colts in what looked an upset on paper.

Now, the home side will be looking to shock pundits with another Friday night special.

"We need to believe in our abilities," he said.

"We've got a good bowling line-up that's been playing well so if we can get a few key wickets early, that could decide the game for us.

"I think i'll open the bowling we'll look to build pressure either from my end or the other end."

Centrals are sweating on the availability of key all-rounder Fletcher Rose who's racing the clock to make it back for the pivotal clash.

If he can't take the pitch, the red and blacks will need to look elsewhere for run-scoring efforts.

This competition has turned into a huge priority for Centrals given their inconsistent BOIDC campaign.

"This has been one of our most consistent teams, in this competition," he said.

"We've struggled a bit in the one and couldn't keep it together in two dayers... this is our best chance to get a win."

The winner of Friday's match will move on to face CYMS after the green and golds controversially advanced in the wake of an abandoned match with Rugby Union.

On the other side of the draw lies Orange City and St Pat's Old Boys who will duke it out on February 12 for a spot in the grand final. First ball is 6.30pm.
