The dragon boat team from Orange took part in the Lake Endeavour 8km Challenge on Saturday morning and finished in a tick over 47 minutes which was good for third place.
Colour City coach Phil Lambert said it was a good showing.
"We were quite pleased with how we went," he said.
"We were a little bit faster than what we thought we would've done.
"Right at the end we had plenty of energy left, so we possibly could have gone a bit harder."
This was a stand-alone event and just their second competitive ride in a two months.
"A lot of the events within NSW have been cancelled due to Covid and it was just a way of getting together the western regional clubs and having an event where we're able to observe all the Covid rules," Lambert added.
"There were three people in our team on Saturday who had never been to a regatta before and enjoyed the competition."
The squad will next compete in Canberra in three weeks time where they hope for another good showing.
