Blake Weymouth was once again outstanding for City as his unbeaten 78 took the competition leaders to 5-160 but thanks to the efforts of Ryan Peacock (61) and Phil Tonkin (46) Rugby easily chased down the total.
Two early wickets from City saw Rugby make an awkward start to their chase at 2-16 but an 82-run stand from Peacock and Tonkin put the blue and golds right back on top.
Harry McGregor took 2-38 to be the pick of the City bowlers while earlier in the day Sam Macpherson claimed 2-40 for Rugby.
It's Peacock's third half century in the space of four BOIDC innings.
Shaun Grenfell (27) put on 51 runs alongside Weymouth.
City lost top spot on the ladder after St Pat's beat CYMS, and Rugby Union now sit just six points behind them in third.
ST PAT'S OLD BOYS (2-138) defeated CYMS (136) by eight wickets
BEN Cant turned up to Morse Park 1 on Saturday in no mood to spend a long time standing in the heat.
Nine fours, six sixes and 94 runs later he had virtually wrapped up a monumental Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket victory for St Pat's Old Boys against CYMS.
The bonus point victory sent the unbeaten Saints to the top of the BOIDC table after Rugby Union accounted for previous leaders Orange City across town at George Park.
Cant's fast-paced knock from just 65 deliveries saw Pat's comfortably chase down CYMS' disappointing effort of 136 in the space of just 21 overs, and at the cost of only two wickets.
Once Cant had played out a couple of overs he started to really hit his stride and never looked back, blasting a 121 opening partnership alongside Andrew Brown (32).
Mitch Taylor claimed season-best figures of 4-20, picking up the key wicket of Dave Neil for 47 along the way, while CYMS' Aquinder Dhillon (2-6) claimed the wickets of Brown and Cant.
CAVALIERS (196) defeated BATHURST CITY (8-193) by three runs
SATURDAY was a doubly cruel day for in-form Bathurst City skipper Joey Coughlan at Wade Park.
He played a brilliant Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket innings against an out-of-sorts Cavaliers squad, only to fall on 99 as he tried his best to pick up the run rate.
Redbacks then ran out of time to chase down the Cavs total of 196 as they finished at 8-193 with their 40 overs used up.
But Bailey Ferguson became the hero of the day for Cavaliers as his 80 runs ensured the hosts would post a competitive total.
He was well supported by Harry Pearce (37) and Cameron Laird (29) through the middle order recovery effort.
Oliver Simpson took 4-45 for City while Tom Lynch was the hardest of the Redbacks bowlers to put away as he took 2-19 from seven overs.
CENTENNIALS BULLS (4-152) defeated CITY COLTS (148) by six wickets
ALWAYS remember that cricket is a team sport - look no further than Centennials Bulls' six wicket success over City Colts on Saturday.
Contributions across the board from Centennials helped them easily hunt down Colts' total of 148 at the loss of just four wickets.
BOIDC's most destructive batsman, Russell Gardner, was at it again for Colts on Saturday as he scored 76 runs - his sixth straight innings of 50-plus runs.
But the rest of his team's combined scores couldn't match his effort.
Bulls' Zane Newham had a brilliant day with the ball as the 15-year-old claimed 4-13 from his six overs. Mick Hutchinson (2-28) and Pat McCleary (2-27) also claimed multiple wickets.
Centennials captain Kurt Toole almost matched Gardner's effort with 68 runs but the difference in his team's innings was that every other Bulls player reached double figures alongside him.
Kyle Aubin (29) added 59 runs with Toole.
KINROSS (93) lost to CENTRALS (7-95) by three wickets
THE Centrals-Kinross clash was a game that belonged to the bowlers.
Kinross' total of 93 may have looked like an easy target for Centrals but Kinross Main Oval was throwing up plenty of challenges for the batsmen.
Centrals managed to get there but they cut it close in a three wicket victory.
Openers Mac Webster (29) and Jonothan Rasmussen (19) would end up being the top scorers for Kinross during a dreary day with the bat.
Centrals' Ed Dodds (3-15), Fletcher Rose (2-14) and Zac Reimer (2-15) all were impressive from a high volume of overs.
Kinross' George Cumming (3-17) put plenty of pressure on Centrals' top order - helping put the red and blacks under pressure at 6-64 - but Matt Burgess (19) and Cam Rasmussen (18) got Centrals out of a tough spot.
