As always, our local-history exhibition Inherit: old and new histories is a great starting point for visitors to the region and locals alike.
Exploring our regional history through more than 100 objects, you'll find well-known people and events alongside touching personal stories and surprising connections between objects, people and places.
Look out for new objects and stories throughout the year.
Our temporary exhibition program includes exhibitions from major institutions across Australia.
Wartime propaganda
Opened towards the end of 2020, you can still catch the Australian War Memorial's 'Hearts & minds: wartime propaganda' until March 14.
This remarkable display of propaganda posters from the First and Second World Wars brings you face-to-face with original home-front posters from Australia and its allies, as well as its enemies.
Collaboration
This year we continue our collaboration with the Orange Regional Gallery and SPARKE Network to bring you 'Pollinator's (March 20 - May 9).
This innovative program engages local primary school students in creative art-making and environmental education, culminating in an installation of student artwork.
Following the success of 'Regenerate', this year's program explores pollinating insects, birds, bats and other small mammals.
More exhibitions
Other temporary exhibitions to look forward to in 2021 include 'Out of this World' (May 15 - July 18), inspired by Australia and the space age.
A brand new exhibition from the National Archives of Australia, it looks at our role in space exploration from the secrets of the Woomera Rocket program, to the moon landing and beyond.
Highlights include the first image taken of the Moon's surface and the art, culture, fashion and design inspired by the era.
This is followed by 'Cleverman' from the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (July 23 - October 3).
Celebrating the groundbreaking and critically acclaimed Australian Indigenous superhero television series of the same name, 'Cleverman' explores First Nations storytelling, language and creativity through the production design, costumes and props of this powerful, contemporary expression of Indigenous origin stories.
Local history
We're also looking forward to sharing lots more local history with you in 2021, with changing foyer displays and a major temporary exhibition in planning for the end of the year.
