The fire brigade, ambulance service and police were called just before 10am on Friday to the corner of Summer Street and McLachlan Street following the two-vehicle smash.
The road was subsequently closed as a result.
Once there, they found that the driver of the truck had become trapped in the vehicle.
A police officer at the scene said: "He was trapped for a short time and has been taken to hospital.
"At the moment it doesn't look like there have been any serious injuries."
Shattered glass from the front windscreen of the truck was scattered across the road, while the truck's rear bumper was also dislodged.
The road was reopened to traffic just before 11am.
No arrests have been made.
