The 53-year-old motorcyclist from Nambour has been fined $2520 after allegedly being clocked at 111km/h along Conrod Straight on New Year's Eve.
Police say Bathurst Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed enforcement duties on Mount Panorama about 10.10am on Thursday when they detected a Suzuki GSX-R 1300 allegedly travelling at 111km/h in a 60km/h zone.
Police say they attempted to stop the rider but he allegedly increased his speed before being stopped near the Caltex Chase.
The rider, a 53-year-old man from Nambour in Queensland, was issued a $2520 penalty notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h and his driving privileges in NSW were suspended.
That incident came after Bathurst Highway Patrol officers also booked a 27-year-old man who was allegedly driving at 150km/h on Conrod Straight last Sunday afternoon.
And it was just one of almost 7000 speeding infringements issued by NSW Police so far during their annual Christmas-New Year blitz on the state's roads.
Traffic and Highway Patrol commander, Assistant Commissioner Karen Webb, issued an urgent plea for all road users to make a safe start to 2021.
"Drivers should be aware that alcohol can remain in their system for some time, and many drivers are caught out driving the next day after a big night, thinking they are OK to drive despite not drinking for a number of hours," Assistant Commissioner Webb said.
"Experience has shown that alcohol, exceeding the speed limit and driving whilst fatigued are major factors in fatal and serious injury crashes, not just in regional NSW, but across metropolitan Sydney as well.
"Clearly from some of the examples detected in the last 24 hours, some drivers believe the law doesn't apply to them, and such driving behaviour puts not only their own lives at risk, but also the lives of other road users."
