The target on Thursday night was his newest venture, the Larder and Home cafe at Lucknow.
Thieves smashed a window at the front of the premise triggering the alarm, one Mr Norris says is "ear piercing loud".
That deafening shriek was enough to deter the bandits, however they didn't escape via the same broken window, instead opting to smash a different exit route at the back of the cafe.
Mr Norris said nothing was taken, but the damage to the building was around the $1000 mark.
"It's very frustrating," Mr Norris said.
"It's the cost of doing business these days. We knew it was going to happen so there's never much money on site. It's the inconvenience more than anything."
Mr Norris and his wife Juliet took over the former Two Fat Ladies and Molly's Lollies shops in Lucknow in September this year.
The pair own the Byng Street Cafe on the corner of Byng and Clinton Streets and that site has been broken in to several times.
Mr Norris said given the remote location of Larder and Home at Lucknow he'd accepted the possibility of more break-ins at his businesses.
"This is the sixth break we've had in 10 years. It becomes the norm. It's just one of those shitty phone calls you get some times," he said. "We're definitely going to put some cameras in now."
Police attended the scene, but were not available to comment on any potential charges.
