Orange City Council has cleared the way to allow Santa into the city this Christmas.
Parents and carers have been urged to let their children know the good news.
They didn't think Santa Claus would be coming because of COVID-19
- Cr Kevin Duffy
Cr Kevin Duffy told council Santa was an "essential service" and council should endorse his travel across the local government area.
Cr Duffy said in his work as a bus driver he had overheard two children talking.
"Two young kindergarten students sitting in the front seat of the bus, they were very extremely worried they didn't think Santa Claus would be coming because of COVID-19," he said.
"That's what they had in their heads and that's what they were thinking, that he wasn't coming."
At Tuesday night's council meeting Cr Duffy sought as a matter of urgency council approval for Santa to come to town.
"I'd like our council to support that Santa Claus is an essential traveller, it is an essential service that he is providing," he said.
