Both drivers appeared in on Orange Local Court on Monday having been charged with mid-range drink-driving.
In one matter, a fruit picker was convicted of mid-range drink-driving after crashing his friend's car on the outskirts of Orange.
Rayan Donna, 31, of Cargo Road, Nashdale, represented himself in court. He is on a bridging Visa from Vanuatu and has never had an Australian driver's licence.
However, at 4.45am on November 21, Donna was driving west on Cargo Road when he veered to the wrong side of the road and came to a stop on an embankment about 50 metres from the Carwoola Drive intersection and a member of the public phoned police.
Donna appeared to be affected by alcohol and admitted to drinking beer before he drove. On analysis he returned a mid-range reading of 0.142.
Magistrate David Day convicted Donna for mid-range drink-driving and placed him on a six-month community correction order, a 12-month interlock order and gave him a three-month disqualification, during which time he cannot apply for a driver's licence.
Mr Day also placed him on a two-year good-behavour bond without a conviction for driving without a licence.
"You could have hurt yourself, you could have hurt somebody else," Mr Day said.
Mr Day also convicted Tammy Lee Ostini, 45, of Park Lane, of driving a car she bought in July despite her driver's licence being disqualified. Police prosecutor Sergeant Beau Riley said it was Ostini's fourth mid-range drink-driving offence.
"You are very close to going to jail if you keep on doing it," Mr Day said.
"At 0.127 you were an accident just waiting to happen, everybody is affected at 0.1.
"You were affected, you were disqualified, if somebody else was injured or killed your life would be a complete shambles.
"If you were in a single vehicle accident you could have killed yourself leaving others to pick up the mess."
Ostini was driving along Gardiner Road at 3.15am on November 4, when she was stopped. She told police she had 10 bourbon mix-drinks between 2.30pm and 2.30am.
On analysis she returned a mid-range alcohol reading of 0.127. When she represented herself in court Ostini said she has had a challenging year with a sick family member.
Mr Day convicted Ostini and gave her a six-month community correction order, disqualified her driver's licence for six months and placed her on a 24-month interlock order for 24 months.
Mr Day also placed her on a six-month community correction order and six-month driving disqualification for driving while her driver's licence was disqualified.
