The team was drawn to play Bathurst on Saturday and was on for a big score according to head coach Colin Starkey.

But a downpour of rain brought an end to the match early.

"Very disappointed about Saturday," he said.

"We were 0-40 after 14 overs before the rain came and we were setting up for a big total of around 250 and that would have won us our first game."

So they had to wait until Sunday when they took on Dubbo. Orange won the toss and elected to bat first but got off to a shaky start, falling to 5-67.

Angus Cornish steadied the ship and guided his side to 9-144 off their 50 overs.

"Dubbo bowled well, we lost a few quick wickets which put us under a bit of pressure," Starkey said.

"The field was a little bit slower than we anticipated but we set a competitive total.

"Angus, for 14 years old, batted 30-odd overs and just basically stabilised the innings for us and is a future talent to watch."

In reply, Dubbo also lost early wickets at the hands of Harry McGregor and Hugh Middleton.

But in a surprise to nobody, Dubbo start batsman Tom Coady brought his team back from the brink with a well-played 50.

But he too would eventually fall to the bowling of Nelson Shepherd and with that brought a Dubbo batting collapse.

It was McGregor who finished things off for Orange as they ran out 25 run winners.

"Credit to Tom Coady from Dubbo who batted really well, put his side in a potential winning position," Starkey said.

"They just couldn't capitalise and kept losing wickets consistently through the innings. Our boys took all their catches and didn't give up in the field.

"Honestly, the intelligence of Blake Weymouth as Orange captain, his field positions were one of the things that won us the game."

The other game featured a Chairman's XI and Bathurst. It was the Chairman's XI who batter first and set a more than respectable target of 174 thanks to scores of 48 and 50 by Darcy Callaghan and Ben Schofield.

In reply, Bathurst captain Ethan Muller (45) and Tom Siede (33) set the match up for a tight finish.

Muller departed but was replaced by Fletcher Norris (27) who helped guide Bathurst to victory in the 49^th over.
