The Bureau of Meteorology's official weather station at the Orange Airport recorded 28mm up until 9am on Sunday morning, with much of the region enjoying what ended up being steady falls for the majority of the day following storm warnings across the tablelands.
That wet Saturday is in stark contrast the our last December, with just 15mm recorded throughout the final month of 2019.
That incredibly harsh dry period the region endured for three years appears behind us now after a wet 2020, with over 1000mm in gauges across the city this calendar year to date and dam levels continuing to rise.
Orange's dam level sits at 64.43 per cent and the city's water usage levels remain just under 160 litres per person, per day - a usage level acceptable if we were still under harsh level 5 restrictions. We're currently under level 2 water restrictions.
After Saturday's falls, the city's official total now sits at 1073.2mm, which is our wettest year since 2016.
There's more rain on the horizon, too, with up to 5mm predicted for Friday following a cool break this December.
A top of 24 degrees Celcius will greet us on Thursday after tops of 19 on Monday and Tuesday and then a maximum of just 15 degrees on Wednesday.
