Fifteen youngsters were this week named in the under 18s representative cricket side that will take on Bathurst this Saturday, with the hope of then playing in the final on Sunday.
A total of eight Orange City players made the cut, including Blake Weymouth who was named captain.
"He has the leadership and the cricket brain to take on the task," coach Starkey said.
"He plays down in Penrith for the under 21s side as well most Sundays, so he definitely has the experience."
But Starkey says it is far more than a one-man team.
"Tom Kiss from Kinross is a force to be reckoned with and Nelson Shepherd is a nice little spinner."
The matches will take place at Sir Jack Brabham Park in Orange.
The other teams that will make up the competition are Dubbo, Bathurst and a Chairman's XI.
With much of the Orange squad having first grade experience already, training sessions were always going to bring out the best in them.
And so far, coach Starkey has not been disappointed.
"We're doing a lot of different skills based activities, so not just batting and bowling in the nets," he said.
"Player enthusiasm has been outstanding and I think any side we put out on the park will definitely be competitive."
