Following a close second placing behind kennelmate Spring Crash just a week earlier at the same venue, Scott Board's Spring Hondo ($3.20) capitalised on his excellent start to take out the Fifty8 George Maiden (450 metres).
Spring Hondo avoided the drama which often comes with Bathurst's 450m boxes by making a brilliant start from box three and holding the lead easily into the first turn.
Widest starter Maeve Wiley ($9, Shannon Kirby) had actually made the quickest start of the bunch but wasn't quite fast enough to get around the field and take the lead.
Winlock Amanda to the inside forced Maeve Wiley to work hard in order to take second place into the back straight while Spring Kayce ($2.15 favourite, Scott Board) wasn't far away from his kennelmate in front.
But that margin between Spring Hondo and the two challengers of Maeve Wiley and Spring Kayce didn't take long to expand.
He's quick early but not very strong. He's only young so hopefully he gets a bit stronger.
- Scott Board
Spring Hondo won in 26.19 seconds.
Board said it's an encouraging start to the career of his young Collision greyhound.
"He's made a great start with a second and a first. He's quick early but not very strong. He's only young so hopefully he gets a bit stronger," he said.
"A few this litter have started and have been winning. Dad's got a couple in South Australia and a couple of them have won their starts.
"He's only an average dog but he's got a nice bit of early pace."
