A police officer has been charged over alleged firearms offences following a search of his home on Monday night.

The officer was charged with seven offences.
The offences included possession of an unauthorised prohibited firearm, not keeping a prohibited firearm safely, possessing as unregistered firearm and acquiring an unregistered firearm.
He was also charged with acquiring a firearm with no licence or permit, acquiring a firearm when he had no permit to acquire a prohibited firearm, and being a holder of a Category A or B licence but not having approved storage.
The officer, a 34-year-old senior constable, is attached to a command in the Western region and attended Lithgow Police Station following the search warrant executed at his home.
He is due to appear at Bathurst Local Court on Monday, January 25, 2021.
