This Christmas there's triple the reasons to shop local. Firstly: to support your own community. Number two: every time you shop at a Shop Orange participating retailer, you'll go into the draw to win one of 40 vouchers being given away weekly. And lastly: every dollar spent at local businesses will go towards Salvos' Christmas Appeal. The Central Western Daily has partnered with Newcrest Mining and Prime7 to give away $6000 worth of Shop Orange vouchers valued at $50 each. From Saturday, November 21, 120 of these cards will be given out to shoppers who shop at participating retailers over the next three weeks. An additional $6000 will go directly to the Salvo's Christmas Appeal to purchase food hampers for local families. Newcrest Mining are donating $12,000 to help the local community recover from COVID-19 while assisting families doing it tough. Christmas is usually the busiest time of year for the Salvos but after COVID-19, the charity was bracing for a significant increase in the number families needing help, Emily Spindler from Orange Salvos said.
