The 2019 Clive Churchill medalist backed up last year's incredible run to the grand final with the Raiders by winning the Dally M medal this season, and the 27-year-old is now entrenched in both the NSW and Australian representative outfits.
They're achievements Orange City Council wants to acknowledge too.
Councillor Kevin Duffy has put forward a notice of motion ahead of Tuesday night's council meeting that a civic reception be held in Wighton's honour.
Cr Duffy highlighted Wighton's recent record as one of the NRL's best players - and certainly one of Orange's best sporting exports - following a season where he made 22 appearances for Canberra, scoring 13 tries and was named joint-winner of the Mal Meninga medal, alongside another Origin star in Josh Papalii.
"It would be fitting to hold a Civic Reception celebrating Jack's Rugby League achievements," Cr Duffy said.
"Jack Wighton was born in Orange and played junior football for Orange CYMS and Bloomfield Tigers before being signed by the Canberra Raiders in the National Rugby League."
