Far from it, in fact.
But that doesn't mean the veteran seamer is ruling out the red and blacks in their season-opening Royal Hotel Cup clash against St Pat's Old Boys at Wade Park.
And one of the reasons why Kennewell is quietly confident in his side's ability is the hard work it's put in over the off-season as every member of the roster has worked tirelessly to make key improvements for the summer of 2020-21.
Those improvements have somewhat translated to the Bathurst Orange Inter District Cricket competition as Centrals sit in sixth after four games but the home side will be hoping to sky rocket to the top of the T20 ladder after Friday's tilt.
"It's obviously a tough match for us to start off with but we're really looking forward to the challenge," Kennewell said.
"We're looking to mix it up a bit and we've got Ed Dodds and Zac Bayliss coming over from Parkes, as well as Nic Freedman who's been doing really well in second grade for us."
Kennewell hopes the injection of a few new faces will add to the already-potent batting line-up, with Kurt Gander and Max Powell to open proceedings.
"We haven't batted well in this format in the past," he said.
"We were looking good at times last year but some of the elements were stacked against up. We need to be getting to that 120-130 mark and putting our best foot forward in those first five-six overs.
"It's very crucial for us to take pressure off the middle order and set a solid base and turn over the strike ... we've got the batting line-up to do that."
Kennewell knows the side he's facing is a formidable one as St Pat's Old Boys are off to a 3-0 start in the BOIDC, as well as going one-for-one in the T20 competition to kick things off.
"They've got some good batters ... some blokes who like to swing the willow," he said.
"It's going to be crucial for us to take our catches in this game and have our field set properly ... but anyone can win in this T20 format."
Zac Reimer is one of Centrals' player who's been coming into his own to kick off the BOIDC competition and Kennewell says that's a product of a diligent off-season on the training paddock.
"Everyone's been working really hard and Zac's no different," he said.
"In the first couple of games he didn't bowl that many overs because the situation didn't call for it but he's started to take his opportunity in these two-day matches.
"He's a key for us. His best T20 figures are 6/17 a couple of years ago. He's a big part of our team and if you're not at your best he'll take you down."
Friday night's game clash between Centrals and St Pat's starts at 6.30pm at Wade Park.
