Despite that dedication, the 78-year-old was "shocked" to have that work recognised last week.
Gorringe was one of the winners of the 2020 Distinguished Long Service Awards presented by NSW Deaf Sports.
Twenty-one awards were handed out across the state, with Gorringe nominated by Deaf Bowls NSW's Warwick Binet and his club, Orange City.
Gorringe has been part of the City bowling club since 1973 and was the first administrator for Deaf Bowls NSW when it formed in 1984. He's still the president now.
He's held roles with Deaf Bowls Australia and the International Deaf Bowls Federation, and is now part of the Orange City committee in 2020, too, taking on the role of bowls secretary.
He said being part of bowls was something he loved dearly.
"My love is to help deaf bowlers all over Australia and to make events run smoothly and keep me busy," he said.
