Aaron Schuberth 27, of Anson Street, was on parole when he was caught driving in Orange on September 5 despite his driver's licence being disqualified until July 7, 2023.
According to police, officers were patrolling in the Glenroi area at 4.10pm on September 5 when they saw a Mitsubishi Magna travelling along Bathurst Road before turning into a petrol station.
Police stopped the car due to several previous interactions patrols had with the vehicle and they immediately recognised Schuberth.
A check revealed his driver's licence to be disqualified so he was arrested and cautioned. While being cautioned he told police, "I have fits and a point in my bum bag in the car."
A search then revealed 29.9 grams of cannabis and 0.4 grams of methamphetamine that Schuberth said he bought for personal use.
Schuberth appeared in Orange Local Court via a video link from jail before magistrate David Day on Monday for sentencing.
Mr Day sentenced him to three months in jail from September 9 to December 5 this year for driving while disqualified and he convicted him without further action for the two drug possessions.
He also disqualified Schuberth's driver's licence for another six months.
The jail sentence will not affect Schuberth's time in jail. He is currently serving a three year and three month sentence until October 2022 for stealing a ute from Dubbo and setting it on fire in Orange in April 2019.
Magistrate David Day gave him the sentence in Orange Local Court in September last year and it included an 18-month non-parole period until January 24, 2021.
He appealed the severity of the sentence in Orange District Court on October 15, 2019, and the non-parole period was reduced to 12 months leading to an earlier release date.
However, Schuberth has been back in custody since his September arrest.
