Jason James Duffy, 40, of Glenroi Avenue, was driving south on Glenroi Avenue on May 2 at 9.20pm when he attracted the attention of police the day before his birthday.
Police followed him into Churchill Avenue and stopped him in Tobruk Crescent where he failed the random breath test.
On analysis he returned a mid-range reading of 0.088 and he told police he had been drinking between 1pm and 9pm that day.
Duffy appeared in court before magistrate Elizabeth Ellis who placed him on a 12-month community correction order and told him to abstain from alcohol for six months, she disqualified his driver's licence for six months and ordered him to have an interlock device fitted to his car for 12 months.
