So, it comes as no surprise that Duncan Young's internal thermostat was ice cold in the seconds leading up to his game-winning conversion on Sunday, the kick giving City a 24-23 win over Dubbo Kangaroos and sending the Lions to the Blowes Clothing Cup decider.
"The biggest thing for me was to relax," Young said.
"I knew that is was going to be everything or nothing. I just tried to go through the processes and kick it as if it was a normal conversion."
After lining the kick up 20 metres in from touch, Young calmly nudged the ball towards the uprights as it clanged off the woodwork and fell between the sticks, seeing the City bench explode onto the field.
But it wasn't smooth sailing before that as Kangaroos held a 23-17 lead after scoring a try with less than five minutes to go.
It looked as though the home side was destined to advance but after they coughed the ball up in the shadow of their own goal posts, City had the chance to steal the game at the death.
A barrage of close-range efforts from the Lions were repelled by the Kangaroos but pressure eventually prevailed with a City big man emerging from the ruck to fall over the try line.
"It was a pretty even contest that was really back and forth," he said.
"There were a few lead changes in the game and we know it was going to be really tough. They're a class side all the way across the field."
The result sets up a monumental all-Orange derby against Emus, a contest that Young believes wouldn't be on the cards if it weren't for the leadership of head coach Viv Paasi.
"He's been everything for us," he said.
"He's always putting in that extra effort for us and he's been very personal with the players which is important." "We all need to focus on doing our job to the best of our ability."
Even though he had a cracking day with the boot on Sunday, Young doesn't think he'll be first-choice kicker when Harding comes back.
"He'll be right for the weekend... he's just got a few sore ribs," he said.
Duncan Young played in the last all-Orange decider in 2015 which was also the last premiership the Lions won.
The two teams will do battle at Wade Park on Saturday September 26.
