These new kits will have gloves, saline eye wash, antiseptic swabs, soap, and first-aid hand towels stored in a resealable plastic bag to make it easy for drivers to use.

Taxi Cabs of Orange chairman Jed Dening said the kits will have the much-needed equipment to keep their taxis clean.

"We have ordered 26 kits, one for each of our drivers, to use when they are on the job," he said.

Mr Dening said at the beginning of the coronavirus it was hard to get cleaning supplies.

"When COVID hit, we reduced the driver's workload and then came up with a schedule strategy to maintain to still provide a service to the public," he said.

"On average, one driver will see up to 35 to 40 people a day and they are doing the best they can to keep up the cleaning maintenance."

For people who are seeking a lift when they get a COVID-19 test, Mr Dening said there rules in place to maintain the safety of the driver and passenger.

"Some of the drivers are not fond of picking up people who have completed the coronavirus test, however the driver needs to be aware if this procedure has been done," he said.

"Passengers who are getting picked up should sit in the back seat and to advise the driver they completed the test"

Mr Dening added they have invested in an another wheelchair accessible taxi for people who require that service.

"Due to customer demand, we wanted to be able to support people with disabilities in our community and spent $85,000 on the new vehicle," he said.

"It is a large investment privately funded by the Taxi Cabs of Orange members without any government subsidies and I think it is a win-win all around."
