A spokesperson for the Western NSW Local Health District confirmed NSW Health's website was inaccurate and the case was no longer active and out of isolation.
No more cases have been added to the region's tally since the latest positive test was acquired on July 31.
The case has been active for over three weeks, but all close contacts of the case, who worked a shift at Orange hospital, returned negative tests for COVID-19.
The case, a student clinician from Charles Sturt University who acquired the virus from a hotspot in Sydney, had been in isolation after the positive test.
Clinics in the Orange local government area have conducted 3542 tests since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said COVID-19 is "still lurking" in the state despite continued low numbers of new cases being found over recent days.
Only three cases were found on Sunday from 20,000 tests, but Ms Berejiklian said health officials still believed there were strains of the virus circling undetected, especially in South-West Sydney.
"Dr Chant, the [health] minister and I remain concerned about the community transmission still lurking," she said.
"It's really important to make sure we're not missing any of these strains. We're just making sure, we're covering all the bases."
Ms Berejiklian said the border with Queensland would remain open despite an increase in cases in Brisbane.
Eleven cases were recorded over the weekend in the northern state.
Meanwhile in Victoria 15 people died of COVID-19 in the 24 hours leading up to 11am Monday, bringing the state's total to 430.
There are still 629 Victorians in hospital, with 31 of those in intensive care.
The state has 3731 active cases, with 116 new cases detected overnight.
