But just how much of the events can be conducted due to the coronavirus pandemic is yet to be determined.

Cr Stephen Nugent told Orange City Council this week it was a "good thing" the events would be run at the same time.

"The dates of the Orange NAIDOC Week are now being moved back to coincide with the new dates for the national NAIDOC week which is November 8-15," he said.

"I think that will be the first time the two things have happened together in a number of years. I think that will be a very good thing.

"What is going to be a challenge is what events will be able to be held.

"Some of the big events such as the street parade and the awards night [and the family fun day], whether they will be able to be held in November and in what form," he said.

Cr Nugent said organisers were considering holding a virtual awards night.

He asked council staff to assist the committee members.

"I think it is going to be quite a challenge for the NAIDOC committee," he said.

The NAIDOC Week Community committee was seeking approval from the Orange Traffic Committee and the Orange Ex-Services' Club to ensure the change of dates to November could be accommodated.

NAIDOC Week is usually held in July nationwide but later in Orange to allow for our winter weather. However, the pandemic's restrictions forced the date change.
